First Presbyterian church of Pueblo
Mission
Purpose
The purpose of mission at
First Presbyterian Church of Pueblo is to provide a place where compassion for
the world is discovered, nurtured and expressed in every persons daily life.
Mission Vision
Our vision is to develop
people who seek to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through serving the needs
of the world in word and deed.
Mission Values
Our mission values
include responding to the truth that we all are called to serve in the Kingdom
of God, according to our individual gifts, supported by the Holy Spirit.
Mission Guiding
Principles
The
goal of the Mission committee is to work within the First Presbyterian Church
of Pueblo to encourage and empower members to leverage both their time and
their resources (skills, talents, financial) to impact our community and world
in a positive way according to Christs example of love and compassion.
We wish for our giving
philosophy to be flexible so we may give of our resources where the need is
greatest and we hear Gods call to give.
We wish for our giving
philosophy to be inclusive so that our mission can extend beyond our community
and faith borders and reach into the world where we see a need.
We have defined the local
mission to be within Pueblo County; regional mission to be within the Pueblo
Presbytery; national to be the rest of Colorado and the United States; and
international to be outside of the U.S. borders.
We will use a guide for
our giving the goal of 1/3 of our monies to local and regional; 1/3 to national
and 1/3 to international.
We acknowledge the
importance of Mission at home and throughout the world.
We acknowledge the
importance of hands-on Mission as well as monetary support and encourage each
other and members of FPC to be active participants through awareness and
action.
We commit to work in
tandem with the Deacons in Mission by engaging in timely two-way communications
about our respective Mission work..
We acknowledge that
Mission is broad-based and that the more people involved in projects, awareness
and action the more the impact our church will have for good in the world.
We wish to increase
awareness of Mission within FPC membership by including in the Inspire
and church website where we are giving of our time and money.
